Changes to Short-Term Medical Insurance Rules

The new Health and Human Services (HHS) regulations will have made changes to short-term medical insurance rules by limiting new policies issued to only having 3 month durations, if purchased on or after April 1st, 2017.  There is still time to enroll in longer duration short-term medical insurance thru the end of March 2017; additionally most companies will allow you to post-date your effective date.  Despite these changes to short-term medical insurance rules, the overall outlook remains bright for short-term medical insurance. The new rules allow insured persons to purchase subsequent 90 day terms of insurance.
